The Nokia N97 is most definitely one of the most loaded N-series devices out there, but that's not it's all about. The N97 is the first high-end device powered by the latest touchscreen Symbian S60 OS. And if the 3.5-inch touchscreen display is not enough for you, you can always slide-and-tilt it up so the large full QWERTY keyboard gets revealed.

                Nokia N97

Tri-band HSDPA and quad-band GSM ensure world wide roaming, but the new Nokia N97 also boasts 32GB of internal memory, a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, touch-enabled Nokia Maps with a digital compass, an accelerometer for auto screen rotation and a proximity sensor for auto screen turn-off during calls.

The 16M color 3.5-inch touchscreen TFT display has a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels that should meet all your handheld widescreen multimedia needs. Of course all the basics are covered too - with stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, TV-out and FM radio with RDS.

As you can imagine the loaded Nokia N97 is quite hefty - it weighs 150 g, but size-wise it's not bigger than say, the Apple iPhone 3G (except in thickness, that is).

You may remember that we published the leaked Nokia smartphone roadmap and as it seems, the Nokia N97 is quite close in its description to the handset codenamed IP08 in this table. Have a look around. The good news is that obviously the roadmap is legit and there are some quite interesting handsets under way.

The Nokia N97 will be available in Q2 2009, at an estimated price of 550 euro before subsidies and taxes.

The spanking new Nokia 6260 slide easily steals the spotlight with Wi-Fi, GPS, 320 x 480 pixels display, and a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. We bet that reading those specs the words "dumb phone" or "S40" would never cross you mind. But the new Nokia 6260 slide is exactly that - a feature phone running the latest S40 6th edition user interface. Say hello to the next S40 super phone.

The unassumingly named Nokia 6260 slide has the same conservative design borrowed from the current 6xxx lineup (Nokia 6600 slide and Nokia 6210 Navigator). Obviously, the lack of original design ideas is not plaguing only Sony Ericsson recently.

Still we can't really brace our excitement as the 6260 slide is the best thing that has happened to the Nokia S40 family for quite some time now.

Nokia 6260 slide

The Nokia 6260 slide sports a 2.4-inch 16M color display with the one-off resolution of 320 x 480 pixels (HVGA). It has quad-band GSM support plus HSDPA 10.2 Mbps. As we already mentioned, there is also Wi-Fi and a built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support.

The integrated 5 megapixel autofocus camera is accompanied by a dual LED flash. Sadly, it will only be capable of recording VGA video at 15 fps as most recent midrange S40 handsets.

There is 200MB of internal memory and a microSD slot with support for up to 8GB cards. The 360-degree D-pad is another first for the S40 lineup - it's a nice enhancement, which sounds as a cool addition to the digital map scouring or the mobile web browsing.

Speaking of web browsing, the Nokia 6260 will be the first feature phone to sport the awesome Nokia WebKit Open Source Browser, previously available only on the Symbian S60 smartphones. It's one of the best mobile browsers currently boasting a virtual mouse pointer interface, incremental page rendering, visual history browsing and page mini-map. Flash Lite 3 support is also added to the S40 platform, which should make watching flash videos a breeze - another first for a feature phone.

Stereo Bluetooth 2.1, a microUSB port that's used for charging, and a 2.5mm A/V jack with TV-out functionality are all aboard the 6260 slide.

The only contemporary feature that seems missing on the Nokia 6260 slide is the accelerometer sensor that is making its way throughout handsets of various makes and walks of life. We wonder when Nokia will add that to their feature phones. But let's not digress, the new 6260 still looks like a helluva performer.

The Nokia 6260 will be available in beige or black in the beginning of 2009 at an estimated price of 299 euro before taxes and subsidies. That sounds a bit much as it will have a hard time competing with similarly equipped Nokia smartphones. Still, only time will tell.

Nokia has officially released in Hong Kong an action-ready Nokia N96 Bruce Lee edition, which will knock you off with exclusive accessories and back panel imprint of the legendary martial arts master Bruce Lee.

While the specifications of the Nokia N96 remain the same, the bundle includes several stylish accessories as a Bruce Lee doll, a wrist strap engraved with Lee's name and a key holder that takes the shape of nunjaku.

nokiabrucelee1

Sadly the N96 back panel imprint of the Bruce Lee face and signature is all that distinguishes the special edition in terms of design. Still, there is some Bruce Lee content preloaded on the phone such as a theme and some rare photos of the legendary actor.

nokiabrucelee2

While we do like the exclusive content and the idea behind the N96 Bruce Lee edition, we wonder who will pay about 1300 US dollars for this one, having in mind the original N96 retails for just 600 US dollars. If you are still ready to make the money fly, drop a visit at Nokia online shop.

Nokia have also launched a website to promote the new N96 Bruce Lee edition,

Today Motorola announced their second 5MP phone - the slider VE66. The other highlight feature is the Wi-Fi connectivity. Most of the specifications that were rumored when images of the phone leaked about 1 month ago were confirmed by the press release issued by the American company today.

Motorola VE66

Running on the Linux OS Montavista v2.6.10, Motorola VE66 comes with a 2.2" 256K color TFT display and a quick Freescale SCM-A11 500MHz processor.

The 5MP autofocus camera can also record video with QVGA resolution, but unlike the Motorola ZN5 it won't carry the Kodak branding. The cam phone also has Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and microSD card slot.

There will be two versions of the Motorola VE66 - the first one will have quad-band GSM/EDGE support and no 3G (for the Chinese market) and the second version will support UMTS and HSDPA. In fact the 3G support is the only major difference (aside from the phone factor) between the Motorola VE66 and the ZN5.

Motorola VE66 also comes with the FastScroll touch-sensitive navigation wheel, which according to the manufacturer should allow you to browse through menus and content with improved speed and accuracy.

The Motorola VE66 is expected to hit the shelves until the end of the year but the price is yet to be disclosed.

The first handset to feature seamless Facebook integration was officially announced by the UK carrier. Peculiarly called INQ1 it has a design much similar to Nokia N85 and a decent modest feature set.

In addition to the seamless integration to the world's most popular social networking website, the 3 INQ1 also offers last.fm, Skype and Windows Live Messenger integration. Furthermore the carrier offers a worthy browsing experience thanks to the new integrated browser based on WebKit (think Symbian S60 or iPhone grade rendering).

3 INQ1 features a 2.2" QVGA display, capable of showing up to 262K colors and a 3.2 MP camera. Having up to 50 MB of internal and 4GB of external memory (we guess they mean a card slot) the INQ1 should be able to host your whole collection of favorite tracks. An accelerometer is also included for automatic UI rotation.

Since there are no official images at the moment, we'll try and give an idea of the device by using several leaked shots by engadget.com.

INQ1

3 UK have plans for several new phones after their Skype lineup, and they will all be branded as INQ (pronounced as 'ink', an abbreviation of 'inquire'). The new INQ1 is obviously the first to become available.

The INQ1 will be available in black in silver colors at a date that is yet to be disclosed. Its price is yet unknown but rumor has it that it will be somewhere in the region of 100 GB pounds (115 euro) without a contract.

After several leaks the Nokia E63 finally got its official announcement today. Much like the rumor had it the handset is a slightly downgraded and more budget friendly version of the E71. Most of the business functionality is still there so the lower price tag might actually be enough to make it quite a success amidst the global financial crisis.

Nokia E63

The Nokia E63 has got a full hardware QWERTY keypad and comes with a slim waistline of 13mm. Its body is lacking the metal finish of the E71 and is entirely made of plastic instead. Most surprisingly however it will have touch sensitive Navi wheel functionality and a 3.5mm audio jack that lack on E71.

The phone has a 2.36" 16M color QVGA display and up to 110 MB of internal memory, which can be expanded through the microSD card slot. According to the press release the Nokia E63 users will also have 1GB of online storage at their disposal though the latest Nokia service called Files on Ovi.

The Nokia E63 packs quad-band GSM and dual-band UMTS connectivity (which comes in three different flavors) but unlike the E71 has no HSDPA support. The other methods of data transfer on-board are microUSB port, and Bluetooth (A2DP and EDR) and Wi-Fi.

The Nokia E63 also lacks GPS and replaces the 3.2 MP autofocus camera of its elder brother with a 2 MP fixed focus snapper. The handset will start shipping in the coming weeks with an estimated retail price of 200 euro (250 US dollars) before taxes or subsides.

HTC announced HTC MAX 4G - a WiMAX-enabled high-end device that's exclusive for Yota WiMAX network in Russia. The handset is an HTC Touch HD replica with its 3G stripped and added WiMAX support. But there are several more new goodies on board.

We already reported the HTC MAX 4G, codenamed HTC T8290, when it was first sighted, but we knew few details back then.

HTC MAX 4G
HTC MAX 4G

HTC MAX 4G is based on the HTC Touch HD. The MAX 4G is not a multimedia monster as the Touch HD, but is still impressive. You can see both of them compared here.

The main disadvantage of the new HTC MAX 4G is the lack of 3G support, which however won't be an issue for its Russian owners, as there is still no active 3G network in Russia.

Instead, they get the Mobile WiMAX. WiMax is like Wi-Fi, only its coverage is much wider and can span across whole cities. However don't just confuse it with the upcoming 4G wireless data standard. We are yet to see that in action, but WiMax is a good alternative that's already available to notebook users in various countries.

Stepping away from the WiMAX fuss, the tri-band GPRS/EDGE HTC MAX 4G differs from the HTC Touch HD by several key features. MAX 4G has 8GB of user available memory, 3.2 MP autofocus camera, and a proximity sensor for auto screen turn-off during calls - much like on the iPhone. The weight and dimensions remain nearly the same, but the new baby is almost 2mm thicker than Touch HD.

You will also get some extra services, granted by the Yota Center, Yota Phone, Yota TV and Music, Yap-Yap, Video, etc.

HTC MAX 4G will be released exclusively for the Yota network in Russia, which is a brand under the Scartel company in the end of November. It will have a rather hefty pricetag of about 840 euros (1050 US dollars), which gets you into a two year contract but promises lots of free music and video content.

The new Blackberry 8900 Curve packs both Wi-Fi and GPS, which is rather unusual for the manufacturer. The new Curve also has a 3 megapixel auto focus camera to make corporate users extra happy. But wait, as there is more.

We reported the new Blackberry 8900 when it leaked earlier last month on T-Mobile website, but the nice news today is that it's finally official.

The presence of Wi-Fi and GPS is not the only unusual thing about the new Blackberry Curve 8900. One of its most impressive features is that the 2.4-inch TFT display has a resolution of 480 x 360 pixels - equal to the Blackberry Storm, but outranking the 3.2-inch Storm display by sheer pixel density.

BlackBerry Curve 8900

The good news doesn't end here, as the Blackberry Curve 8900 is the thinnest full-QWERTY Blackberry device standing at 13.5mm (though the Nokia E63 that was announced today is only 13mm).

Further on, users who pick the new Blackberry 8900 before December 31st on a contract, will be able to use the push email service free-of-charge for six months by trying out some of the T-Mobile webmail plans.

The BlackBerry Curve 8900 will be available from T-Mobile Germany from mid-November 2008 (which sounds pretty imminent) and will cost you a one-time charge of 4.95 euro with a 24-month contract on the Relax 200 Plus rate with BlackBerry Webmail S or 360 euro without contract.

O2 today exclusively unveiled the XDA Zest, adding another Xda phone to its expanding range of O2 branded handsets. The new PDA is the first O2 XDA to be made available on Pay&Go, but it will be available on Pay Monthly plans as well.

Manufactured by Asus, the O2 XDA Zest naturally runs on Windows Mobile OS v6.1 and has a large 2.8” VGA TFT display. As you already knew from the header it boasts Wi-Fi and GPS (wih SiRF Star III chipset) plus a trial version of CoPilot Sat Nav app with full UK and Ireland maps.

The O2 XDA Zest has a fast Marvell TavorP 624MHz processor, 128 MB SDRAM and 256 MB Flash ROM.

The tri-band GPRS/EDGE phone has also 3G support and HSDPA connectivity. The 3 MP autofocus camera, secondary video call camera, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP profile, microSD card slot and MP3 player completes the specs list.

O2 Xda Zest will be on sale in O2 stores and online at o2.co.uk from 17th November 2008. It will be available on O2 Pay&Go priced at £249.99 and for free on certain O2 Pay Monthly contracts.

Today, T-Mobile officially released the rumored Samsung Behold and Samsung Gravity. The Behold has a large touchscreen display while the Gravity has a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

Touchscreen Samsung T919 Behold looks like the Samsung F480 but on steroids. On top of the touchscreen TouchWiz interface, 5 megapixel autofocus camera, 3G support, full HTML browser the new Behold scores higher with its built-in GPS. Unfortunately, even the Behold does not feature the highly desirable Wi-Fi feature.

Samsung Behold

Samsung Behold

The Samsung Gravity is actually the first phone by Samsung with such form factor. In its essence the Samsung Gravity is pretty much like some other phones as HTC S730 and S710. Only those run on Windows Mobile, while the Samsung Behold doesn't.

Leaving aside the design, Samsung Gravity, so far known as Samsung T459/T450, is a quad-band phone with GPRS/EDGE but no 3G support. Its display is relatively small measuring 2.1" 256K colors and 176 x 220 pixels resolution. Other features include microSD card slot, Bluetooth with A2DP profile, a modest fixed-focus 1.3 MP camera. Its processor and built-in memory is still unknown.

Motorola EM35

We came across the Motorola EM35, which will be the successor of the music oriented Motorola EM30. The smartphone runs on Linux Montavista 2.6.10 OS and has SCM-A11 500MHz processor on-board.

Motorola EM35

The new EM35 is also a music-centric phone but this time in the slider form factor. It sports three hardware music keys as well as a 3.5mm AV jack. The new baby has borrowed from Motorola ROKR E8 the navigation scroll wheel, as you can see by yourself from the leaked photos.

Of course the feature-rich music player and stereo FM radio with RDS support are here as well. Though the 110MB built-in memory is pretty good count, you can rely on the microSD card slot for expanding the on-board memory. Finally, the music section is enhanced by Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP profile for listening stereo music with compatible Bluetooth headsets.

The tri-band GSM phone will support GPRS and EDGE but no 3G. Motorola EM35 has a 2.22" QVGA TFT display with 256K colors and a 3MP camera on its back. Talking about dimensions, the EM35 slider measures 107 x 49.5 x 16 mm and weighs 117 grams.

Sony Ericsson W705

We are pretty confident that Sony Ericsson will release some new phones tomorrow, including the Walkman branded Sony Ericsson W705. Music fans will also cheer up with the latest portable speaker MBS-900, which also will be revealed to the public.

Sony Ericsson W705

What makes immediate impression is that the W705 design is strikingly similar to the already announced Sony Ericsson G705. According to the leaked information, the new slider phone is equipped with a 240 x 320 pixels 256K color TFT display, 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and GPS (G705 also has both of the connectivity options on-board).

Sony Ericsson W705 is said to have 120MB of built-in memory, expandable via M2 card slot. The retail package will sport a 4GB card.

The new phone is expected to hit the market in February 2009.

Today Nokia unveiled seven new handsets that come right into the low-to-mid end segment. The new offerings include 7100 Supernova, 5130 XpressMusic, 2323 classic, 2330 classic, 2320 classic, 1661 and what is said to be the most affordable Nokia handset to date - the 1202. Targeted mainly at the emerging markets they rely on low price tags and unusual design rather than functionality to win customers.

The Nokia 7100 Supernova is the stylish offering for people on a tight budget. The handset packs a 1.3 megapixel camera, FM radio and a 65K QVGA screen. Bluetooth connectivity and radio recording are some of the other more interesting features of the phone. The handset will also come complete with support for image sharing and email services on Ovi.

Nokia 7100 Supernova

The Nokia 7100 Supernova comes in two different dual-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE versions (850/1900 MHz and 900/1800 MHz) and will have three colors to pick from (Jelly red, Fresh blue and Black). It is expected to start shipping in Q4 2008 with an estimated retail price of 75 euro (95 US dollars).

The music-centered Nokia 5130 XpressMusic comes with dedicated music keys, a standard 3.5mm audio jack and FM radio. It also has a 2 megapixel fixed focus snapper and a 2" QVGA display with up to 256K colors. Bluetooth and USB are also on board and there is a microSD card slot to allow you to carry more music on the handset. A 1GB memory card will be included in the standard retail package.

Nokia 5130 XpressMusic

Dubbed to be the most affordable music handset on the market the quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE Nokia 5130 XpressMusic will hit the shelves in Red and Blue in Q1 of 2009. Its estimated retail price is 90 euro (113 US dollars).

The classic trio announced today includes the Nokia 2330 classic, Nokia 2323 classic and the Nokia 2320 classic. All of the handsets have somewhat extraordinary design as far as recent trends go and as their names suggest quite modest specs sheets. Each of them will have a 65K color display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels.

Nokia 2330 classic and Nokia 2323 classic

In addition, the Nokia 2323 and 2330 classic will pack FM radios with recording capabilities. The Nokia 2330 also comes with a built-in VGA camera and Bluetooth.

Nokia 2330 classic

The Nokia 2320 will be is the most affordable of the trio, packing very little more than the basic telephony and messaging features.

The Nokia 2320 classic, Nokia 2323 classic and the Nokia 2330 classic will start shipping in Q2 2009. The 2330 classic will retail for about 50 euro (63 US dollars) a piece while the 2320 and the 2323 will be yours for only 40 euro (50 US dollars).

Nokia 2323 classic

Nokia 1661 (or 1662 as it will be known in some areas) will be the company's lowest cost color screen phone. According to the manufacturer the phone is designed to suit mostly the demands of the inhabitants of rural areas. Its features include flashlight, an FM radio and multiple phonebooks. The display on the phone will sport a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels and will be capable of showing up to 65K colors.

Nokia 1661

The Nokia 1661 will have two dual-band GSM versions (850/1900 MHz and 900/1800 MHz) one of which will presumably be sold as Nokia 1662. They will both start shipping in the first quarter of next year, costing just about 30 euro (38 US dollars).

Finally we reach the Nokia 1202 - the last handset of today's announcement is the most affordable of the lot. The highlights of the device are extended battery life, a flashlight and a separate phonebooks for up to five users.
